Prayer Request

As I have mentioned before, Owen has a flat head. We have tried to let him sleep on his side to try and even it out, but it has not really helped. By the time he wakes up in the morning he is always on his back, and I am not sure how quickly he gets in that position- it could be right after he falls asleep.

So on Monday I took him to see his new pediatrician on base just to have her take a look at what was going on.

She said she wanted to schedule him for a brain scan (oh boy) the next day to rule out anything really serious. She said sometimes the skull can form to the brain, meaning he would need brain surgery (OH MY GOSH!) at around 8 months. She must have noticed the broken hearted look on my face after saying that because she quickly said “I am sure it is nothing serious, and just a placement issue, which means it would go away once he starts sitting up”. Oh boy!

So yesterday we took Owen to the large hospital on the Army base here and waited for an hour and a half to have brain X-rays done. As you can imagine, my 3.5 month old was not pleased, but he did well. We should have the results in 7-10 days, and until then I will be on pins and needles.

Owen was also diagnosed with Acid Reflux on Monday. I have always thought he probably had this because he spits up ALL the time. He decided to do it on the pedi and all over the floor on Monday, and she agreed that yes, he does have reflux. So now he is on Zantac 2 times a day. It tastes HORRIBLE and he hates it, but hopefully it will start helping!

So that is all of the news around here. John is back and we are starting to get our house in order. It feels like a never ending project. We have also been working on our landscaping in the yard. We are trying to get grass to grow in this heat!

So please just say a prayer for Owen. In return, he promises to smile nicely for many pictures next post! :)

We hope that everything turns out alright! We'll keep you guys in our thoughts! Glad to hear that John is there with you also!

As for the Zantac - He'll get used to it! Andrew was on it also and he eventually would just open his mouth for it and not fuss at all! It also makes taking other meds easier because he got used to me squirting things in his mouth :)

I'll say a few prayers for you guys. I hope it's nothing serious. Hopefully the meds will help his reflux a lot. Poor little guy. Hope you're holding up okay too.

Jack had a flat head too. It was more on the back on one side. He grew out of it, when he (finally) started sitting up. It's REALLY common, promise!

The Zantac will help (I'm on it, too!). It should get MUCH better as soon as you start 'people' food on a regular basis.

I can't believe he's 3 1/2 months old! GEEZ! :)
