Owen the pilot

While in Pennsylvania during the Thanksgiving holiday, Owen was able to pilot his first air plane. NO I AM NOT KIDDING!

He flew a Cessna Cardinal that our great family friend Mr. Dennis owns. We have more pictures on Pop Pop’s camera, but this is a great one they sent to me the day of.

I am told Owen LOVED flying and enjoyed scaring Pop Pop quite a few times. Mr. Dennis says Owen has a future as a fighter pilot.

I can’t believe they let him fly the plane! BUT HOW COOL FOR OWEN!

My Owen Hunter

I have a ton of photos to post from Thanksgiving and our trip to PA (unfortunately the trip to VA was cancelled because Amy got a stomach bug), but here is a cute video of Owen saying his whole name. If you get this VIA email you will need to click the link to get directly to the webpage to watch the video.

When did my boy get so BIG????

Wow, so much to post

I have been the absolute worst blogger. Especially for a blogger that really wants to be a “Blogger”. I have so many post ideas in my head and somehow it never gets down into the blog. I have really adorable photos of John and Owen playing on our swing set, John and Owen dancing to some fun Pandora music, and John and Owen playing outside. So you sense a theme? I am NEVER in the pictures. But that is ok. It is more important to me that John and Owen have a BEAUTIFUL and loving relationship.

My thanksgiving promise is that I will be so much better about posting photos and stories from our life. John and I have both agreed that each Christmas we will write a letter to Owen sharing our thoughts and feelings of him growing into a young man. I have worked on my letter about 1000 times and i always get emotional and start to cry. I just can not believe what a little boy he has turned into as opposed to a baby.

Today Owen asked me to see a photo collage that Aunt Michelle did for him. It has several  photos of Owen’s first year of life and it is really special. Well Owen looked at it and said “Daddy. Love. Owie.”. I CAN NOT BELIEVE HE SAID THAT. YEs, absolutely Daddy loves Owen. But for him to articulate it was just amazing to me. He also said My Name Owie, when we were playing with sidewalk chalk. Yes, I realize these are only things that a momma could get so excited about, but MY BABY IS SUCH A BIG BOY! It makes me so happy to see him learning and growing and developing into the person he is going to be in the future. absolutely amazing!

For thanksgiving, we are spending the day here with some of our closest friends who happen to also be our neighbors. We are really excited to cook a fun meal and to Celebrate what we are thankful for. On Friday we are heading to Virginia to spend time with my family. Many people are coming from out of town that we have not seen since LAST thanksgiving, so it is really exciting.  On Sunday we are going to Pennsylvania where later that week John, his brothers, and his father are heading to the mountains to have a “MANS” weekend at the cabin with hunting, eating, and fellowship. We are all really excited about our thanksgiving plans.

So keep an eye out for tons of fun photos. I am so excited to share them on here with family and friends! M\

Terrible Blogger!

Once again, I have been a TERRIBLE blogger! Sickness has struck in this house for a few weeks and we are still trying to recover!

My bestest friend Erin came to visit earlier this month, and in true Amy/Erin fashion it was a disaster. Yes of course we had a wonderful time hanging out and catching up, but the week just did not go as planned. On the 2nd night of them being here her son Evan learned to climb out of both the pack n'play AND the crib- making for a very interesting time. I dropped the pack n 'play on my toe and I am pretty sure it is going to fall off soon. Well the nail, not the whole toe. And then I got hit with the worst flu i have ever gotten- which even landed me in the ER!.

I have this habit of throwing up so much and there is nothing left to throw up, yet i continue throwing up. Hyperemesis if you will. So yeah, after throwing up every 10 minutes for about 13 hours or so, John took me into the ER where I got 4 bags of fluids, shots of all kinds of stuff, and some pretty serious bruises to show.

Since then, I have just not felt like myself!

Now Owen and I both have sinus infections, and my visiting mother in law has been getting sick.

My friend Tina SERIOUSLY has me wondering... is it something in the water.....

Uncle Kevin

Kevin DuPont

John's uncle Kevin has a condition called MDS. He is currently going through Chemo in preparation for a serious blood transfusion from John's mom, Jackie. It is all really serious, and we are praying that it works and that he will be back to his old self again soon. Please take a minute to stop by his blog and send him good wishes. Also pray for John’s mom who has a central line in her neck for the next 10 days while she undergoes some serious things in order to donate to Kevin!

Thanks so much!

For some reason, Owen thinks horses are cows. He always says mooo when he sees them. Silly boy.
Today we went to visit our good friend’s doggie, Remi, who is being boarded while they are away. He is at a kennel that is on a farm WAY back in the sticks. When we arrived there was a horse competition going on. 54 horses and their owners were surrounding the kennels- SO MUCH FUN!
Owen immediately started saying Cow, Cow, moo, moo. After visiting with Remi we took a stroll over to the area where there were some horses. I politely asked the owner of this horse if we could say hello, and she was more than happy to let us pet her beautiful “Lil”. She even asked if Owen wanted to ride her!
You can tell by his hands in his mouth that he is a little nervous (that is his tell tale sign), but he was not afraid and we were really excited for him!
I just love random fun finds!

Owen’s 2nd haircut

While in Virginia, I asked my great aunt Linda if she would trim up Owen’s hair just a bit. Around his ears has been getting quite shaggy and I have been too afraid to do it myself. She said of course so to her salon we went. Owen was anything but pleased!

We went at 10:30, which is normally a good time for him, but he was grumpy from the minute we walked in. We tried to get him to sit in the chair by himself, but he was having none of that, so I sat down while my aunt took photos on the camera phone.

He did not fight it too hard, but he definitely was not happy about the haircut.

His little trim looks so cute. Even though she just cut off a little bit, it made him look like such a big boy. I have no idea where the time has gone or when he became such a little man.

10 days since I last posted!

Wow, how is that possible? I normally feel like I have so much to say, but I guess I have been in a blogging rut lately.

Lets see what has been going on, in list form:

- took a trip to Virginia. Owen was able to spend time with 2 great grand mothers, 2 great grand fathers, 1 great aunt, 1 grandmother, 1 aunt, and many more!

- he got his first salon hair cut from my great aunt Linda. He was not pleased.

- my grandmother gave me my favorite chair from her house, it is an oversized floral chair with ottoman I am in love!

- because of the new chair, we have had to rearrange our living room, and I do not know that I am yet 100% happy with it!

- it went from being 95 degrees to 60 degrees, in 1 week. Not that I am complaining, but it sure happened fast!

- i am trying to convince John that I want to paint the living room green. The only thing he hates more than rearranging a room is painting a room.

- Owen is down to taking only 1 nap a day, and sometimes that nap only lasts for an hour. Oh how i miss the days of 2, 2 hour naps!

That is about it around here. I have some photos to post of our trip and Owen’s haircut… coming soon! Hope everyone is doing well!

Playing in the Rain!!!!

Today has been a much  needed rainy/dreary day. Owen has been asking ALL DAY to go “OWside, OWside”, so I finally told him we could put on our rain boots and go check the mail. He was so excited. At first he was just a little unsure, but after successfully coaxing Maggie to come out with him, he had a wonderful time! IMG_5799 IMG_5800

Ooops, I fell down! Oh well, this is fun!

Maggie, why won’t you come play with me!

Ok Mom, I do not know about all this rain!

Time to change into something dry! Mommy wants to point out my cute curls, again!

This coming weekend, Owen and I are taking a trip to Virginia to spend time with family and friends. We have not been up there in almost a year, so we are really excited. We hope to also pick up a piece of beautiful furniture that I am SO EXCITED ABOUT! Hopefully we will have a nice post about it next week. Just as soon as we figure out how to re-arrange our living room! :)

We hope everyone has a great week!

Fall TV

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of TiVo. All opinions are 100% mine.

Is everyone as excited as I am about Fall TV??? Yes, Army Wives, Drop Dead Diva , and Bachelor Pad held my interest for the summer.... But I need my oldies back! I can not wait for Greys Anatomy, Private Practice, How I Met Your Mother, Castle, etc.

The hard thing about watching TV these days though is how to fit in all the shows I want to watch, during the time that Owen is asleep. I am a firm believer of not letting him watch anything that is not G rated (except the occasional Good Morning America), so all of my TV watching happens after 8pm. That is also the time when I clean, do laundry, catch up on emails, etc.

Boy do I need a TiVo! I remember the first time I saw TiVo, it was on Sex and the City of course. TiVo has now come such a long way!!!! The new TiVo Premiere, along with the new TiVo Slide remote (that has a slide out keyboard), makes discovering this fall TV season’s best entertainment easier than ever. The keyboard makes it so much easier to search and use the remote to its full potential!

You can now subscribe to the Fall " TV Guru Guide"  and discover all the new shows premiering this fall. You can also try the TiVo search to find your favorite TV programs, movies and Web video whether it’s on cable, Netflix, Amazon On Demand, Blockbuster On Demand, YouTube videos or more. HOW COOL IS THAT?

Do you wish you had your own TiVo as much as I do??? Then you can Enter to Win a new TiVo Slide  In the "30 Slides in 30 Days" Sweepstakes. Make sure to enter NOW though because the Sweepstakes ends September 22, 2010!

You can also become a Facebook Fan of TiVo!

Last Sunday night us ladies went out for a nice dinner in Fuquay, without the kids or the boys! It was so much fun to just get out and have some girl time with women who lift each other up! Right after ordering our food, the power at this restaurant went out. We did not care one bit! We continued our meal by candle light which made it even more special.

I am very blessed to have the most wonderful friends! Love you girls!

Are what make this world go 'round.

Friends that you can be funny, silly, and goofy with.

Especially friends that you do not see that often… it is so special when you hang out and things are just like they used to be. That is the most special kind of friend. A true friend!

And for that, I am so thankful!

Aloha Zoo

About 15 minutes away from us is an amazing Zoo called Aloha Safari Zoo. This is such a hidden charm in our little town. On Saturday we decided to make a visit and we are so glad that we did! Now here is a little known fact about me- I am TERRIFIED of horses. I have no idea why. I guess it is the fact that they can crush you with their HUGE feet? Or their mouth is a death trap. This could all go back to 4th grade when one of my classmates came to school all bandaged up because her horse had bit her hand pretty badly. I had to take notes for her for weeks! Regardless, I am afraid of horses.

But not this horse, this was the nicest horse EVER!!!

He was so soft and so gentle.

He was so calm and so sweet to Owen.

I even got right up to him and let him lick Owens shoe and then his leg- big steps for me!

Then there was this horse. By far the largest I have ever seen. And well, I kept my distance from him!

The zoo was so much fun though. With tons of animals to look at and to touch.

Even a white tiger!

The Zoo also offers a safari ride that offers views of :

Watusi cattle, known for their horns that can grow up to six feet in length, Asian water buffalo, nilgai antelope, dromedary camels, ostriches, emus, zebras, Jacob sheet that are multi-horned, pot bellied pigs, a zorse (offspring of zebra and a horse), porcupines and more!

One of these camels, I think the one on the right, is the new mascot for Campbell University! You can even see him at games!

My favorite was probably this adorable cow. She was so sweet and gentle. Owen just loved petting her and saying MoooooMoooo! IMG_5733

This was such a fun family outing. We definitely plan on going back soon!
